A Video Game Designed to Prevent Violence

For 2013 we are pleased to award the second place prize of our video game design contest to Guts (Hima) Rodsavas and Piti Yindee of GPTouch from Thailand with their beautiful video game "Janie's Sketchbook".

GPTouch previously won in 2010 with "Grace's Diary" available online and for Android devices.

Janie's Sketchbook, like Grace's Diary, is a beautifully illustrated visual novel which increases awareness of teen dating violence and provides educational information.

Note: Although not required we suggest that you first play Grace's Diary before Janie's Sketchbook. Grace's Diary presents a story of dating violence that provides an ideal foundation for Janie's Sketchbook.

Some suggested uses:

• Parents: Educate yourselves about the issue of teen dating violence.


• Did you know that 44% of all students have been in an abusive relationship by the time they graduate from college? To ensure that your kids are well-informed about abusive dating relationships you have to learn about dating abuse yourself!


• Play a few of our video games and select the one that will most appeal to your teen, tween, or young adult.


• Have your teen play the video game and use that experience to facilitate a discussion with them about teen dating violence.


• Teachers: Use our free video games in your classroom.


• Many school systems mandate teaching students about this important issue (and even if it's not required it is still incredibly important).


• Instead of worrying about how to provide this information in a manner that is both engaging and budget friendly, you can use all of our resources about dating violence (including our growing collection of video games to prevent violence) in your classrooms for free!


• Students: Identify potentially abusive behavior and learn where to turn if you are being abused.


• All of our video games incorporate educational information to help identify the difference between healthy and unhealthy behaviors. We also provide contact information for the National Dating Abuse Helpline, our partner in preventing dating violence since 2006.

Since 2008, Jennifer Ann's Group has sponsored the Life.Love. Game Design Challenge to challenge video game designers and developers to create video games about teen dating violence.
