Jennifer Ann's Group is pleased to offer these free resources to help increase awareness of domestic violence during the National Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) in the month of October. We designed these tools to align with our strategy of preventing dating abuse through Awareness, Education, and Advocacy. We hope that they will be helpful in your efforts to increase awareness of domestic violence. AwarenessIf people (lawmakers, judges, lawyers, doctors, emergency room personnel, employers, friends, neighbors, and you) are not aware of
domestic violence (or intimate partner violence) they will not place sufficient importance on preventing this national health problem.
Education
The warning signs of an abusive relationship are essential to assist people in relationships in recognizing the
difference between healthy and unhealthy behaviors in relationships.
Advocacy
In addition to increasing
awareness
and providing educational
information about abuse and dating violence,
it is critical that there are laws in place which provide teens
with better protection from abusers as well as requiring
schools to teach young people about teen dating violence. Teens who are in abusive relationships are much more likely to be affected
by domestic violence throughout their lives. By stopping abuse while they are still teenagers we can interrupt one aspect of this cycle of violence.
